Services

THE estate planning PROCESS

  • INITIAL CONSULTATION (recommended, but optional): 15-Minute telephone call to discuss your specific estate planning needs. If you are new to estate planning this is a great place to start to get some of your questions answered before jumping into the planning process.

  • PLANNING MEETING: 60-Minute virtual meeting (telephone or video chat) to create your estate plan. This meeting is for people who are ready to discuss their specific wishes. I will begin working on a draft of your estate plan after this meeting.

  • DRAFT: You will receive a draft of your estate plan based on the choices you made during your planning meeting. Depending on the complexity of your estate plan, you can expect to receive a draft within 7-10 business after your planning meeting. You will have time to review the draft on your own before we meet again.

  • FINALIZATION MEETING: 60-Minute virtual meeting (video recommended, but telephone is ok) to go through your draft, ask questions, and make edits. We will also discuss trust funding (what you do with your accounts) during this meeting.

  • SIGNING: Your finalized estate plan will be mailed to you for signing with a notary of your choice. The package will include instructions and a prepaid return envelope.

THE Conservatorship PROCESS

  • INITIAL CONSULTATION (REQUIRED): 15-Minute telephone call to discuss your specific case. During this call I will get some general information about your loved one and their specific needs to determine if we are the right fit for one another. If we agree to work with each other, I will schedule a Planning Meeting with you at the end of this call.

  • PLANNING MEETING: 60-Minute virtual meeting (telephone or video chat) to discuss the specifics of your case and get the information I need to draft the paperwork for the limited conservatorship. You will receive a list of information you will be required to provide in advance of this meeting.

  • DRAFT: You will receive a draft of all completed paperwork for your review within 7-10 business days of your planning meeting.

  • PRE-SIGNING MEETING: A 60-minute virtual meeting (telephone or video chat) to answer any questions you had while reviewing the paperwork and make any edits.

  • SIGNING MEETING: A 30-minute in-person meeting to sign the finalized paperwork for filing. We will discuss what to expect after filing and the next steps the court requires before your hearing date.

  • HEARING DATE: After all preliminary requirements have been completed, we will attend the hearing to get the judges decision on the limited conservatorship.
